Welcome and thank you for visiting the Administrative Office Careers (AOC) website. The purpose of the AOC Program is to provide technical training for students; to provide the work force with qualified, well-educated graduates; and stay abreast of the latest trends in the work world so that OUR graduates can enter a work place already prepared.

The AOC Program has been developed and reviewed in consultation with an Advisory Committee selected from representative business, institutional, and industrial employers. This helps to ensure that our curriculum addresses the industry needs of today and the near future.

Office Management (AAS-ADMA)

The versatile Office Management, A.A.S. program is designed to prepare students to meet the expectations of the ever-changing office environment.

This non-specialty program provides education which will allow students to find employment in a variety of businesses including insurance offices, banks and financial institutions, law offices, real estate agencies, government offices, and educational institutions.

Students receive a balance of excellent academic instruction and hands-on applications in a technology-enhanced environment. The program provides a diverse educational foundation in problem solving, developing organizational skills, prioritizing tasks, and decision making in business and personal settings. Students are also encouraged to develop “real world” lifelong skills in personal qualities of success – ethics, reliability, responsibility, and respectability. In addition, they take classes in Social Behavioral Sciences, Communications, Speech Communication, Humanities and participate in an internship experience, all of which enhance their level of marketability in the legal environment.

Legal Office Management (AAS-LGSE)

The Legal Office Management, A.A.S. program is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of legal settings. The Legal Office Management program is designed to provide its graduates with sufficient knowledge, understanding and proficiency to complete legal tasks.

This specialty program provides education which will allow students to perform essential roles as valuable members of legal teams in various settings such as: law firms, courthouses, corporate legal departments, insurance companies, real estate or title companies, banks, trust agencies, government agencies or judicial offices.

Students receive a balance of excellent academic instruction and hands-on applications in a technology-enhanced environment. The program provides a diverse educational foundation in a variety of legal areas while assisting students in developing specialized skills. Students are also encouraged to develop “real world” lifelong skills in personal qualities of success – ethics, reliability, responsibility, and respectability. Office Specialist

An Office Specialist is the go-to person in an office environment.  By providing clerical and general administrative support to a manager or a department, office specialists keep an organization running smoothly.

This one-year track certificate program prepares students to assume secretarial and clerical responsibilities.  The student develops computer expertise in a professional work environment.  Additionally, this one-year certificate will prepare students for continued study in the Office Management associate of applied science degree program.

Legal Office Specialist

A legal office specialist is an invaluable asset to the legal profession. This career requires the ability to assist the attorney by utilizing legal terminology, understanding legal procedures, electronically document filing, calendaring/docketing, and assembling, managing, and imaging documents.

This one-year track certificate will assist individuals who have general business/office skills to make a career shift to the legal office environment.  Or it will assist individuals currently employed in the legal environment to broaden their legal-specific skills or credential their legal work experience.

Additionally, this one-year certificate will prepare students for continued study in the Legal Office Management associate of applied science degree program.
