Cloud Computing and Virtualization Specialist

In this specialization, students will learn cloud computing skills, which include installation, maintenance, and support for computer systems as well as traditional, wireless and cloud-based networks. Students will take courses to learn how to properly install, maintain and troubleshoot and secure computer systems, provision software, deploy wired networks, wireless networks and install cloud-based systems. Cloud computing focuses on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) implemented on hardware and virtualized systems.

Computer and Internet Specialist

Certificate

This one-semester specialization will provide students with the foundation required in the use of computers and the Internet. Students will learn entry-level skills needed to effectively use the latest computer and Internet technologies in a business environment. Graduates will have knowledge in the areas of technology including using computer hardware, using and installing computer software, fundamentals of operating systems, computer networking, Internet and electronic mail concepts, as well as using word processing applications, and presentation media software.

Specialization: Computer Maintenance Technology

Certificate and Associate of Applied Science

Students who graduate from this specialization will gain skills necessary to compete in the computer maintenance industry. They will learn skills such as programming on computing architecture, computer hardware and software installation, computer and mobile device maintenance, computer and mobile device security, peripheral installation and troubleshooting, as well as provide hardware, software and computer security support for users within their organization.

Specialization: Computer Support and Telecommunication Specialist

Certificate and Associate of Applied Science

In this specialization, students will learn computer support and telecommunication skills, which include installation, maintenance, and support for computer systems, computer networks, computer security and cabling infrastructure. Students will take courses to learn how to properly install, maintain and troubleshoot computer and mobile device systems, software, peripherals, as well as implementing sound security practices for networks and networking devices in a business. Graduates will also provide technical support for users within their organization.

Telecommunication Support Specialist

Students who graduate from this specialization will gain skills necessary to compete in the telecommunication support industry. The courses are aligned to the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) entry-level Electronic Systems Technicians (ESTs) industry certification. Students will learn advanced installation and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems such as telephony, broadband as well as copper and fiber optic structured cabling systems to deliver voice, data, Internet and video/web services to end users.

Voice and Data Technician

This one-semester specialization will provide students with the foundation skills in the telecommunication industry. The courses are aligned to the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) entry-level Electronic Systems Technicians (ESTs) industry certification. Students will learn traditional telecommunication systems such as telephony and broadband. Students will learn industry best practices in a hand-on environment to deploy copper and fiber optic structured cabling systems to deliver voice, data, Internet and video/web services to end users.
